Bëuy is the label of Melbourne based jewellery designer Taë Schmeisser. Bëuy takes its place in the continuing evolution of Schmeisser’s design practice, offering innovative seasonal pieces that balance function and form in diverse materials and techniques.
Having been raised by artists, there was never any doubt that Taë would follow a creative path. At the age of 10 she announced she would one-day study glass. True to her word, she went on to study Visual Arts (Glass), before expanding her material vocabulary with further studies in ceramics, gold and silversmithing both in Australia and internationally.
As a trained ballet dancer, Taë found her visual arts practice became increasingly wearable, revolving around the body and movement. The pursuit to create pieces that compliment the physical landscape while being unique and expressive to the wearer were and are still fundamental to every design.
Taë looks for inspiration in the details, from the dented sides of a garbage bin to the articulated scales of a fish.
She has been exhibiting her work nationally under her eponymous label since 2002 and in 2008 won the e.g. etal graduate award.
Bëuy complements Taë’s existing eponymous label which focuses on one-off/limited edition gallery pieces. Bëuy offers the fashion and design savy an opportunity to access affordable conceptual jewellery, designed and crafted with curiosity and tender loving care in Melbourne, Australia.
